A popular tourist destination in terms of its proximity to San Jose, North Puntarenas is famous for touristy beach resorts, great surfing and many beautiful national parks. Along the Central Pacific Coast, casinos can be found at the towns of Manuel Antonio, Jaco, Quepos, and Playa Herradura. The Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort is located at Playa Herradura and is one of the best resorts in the country. It also features an 18-hole championship golf course on its premises.
